Processing Postpartum | A Community for New Moms

Postpartum hit me like a ton of bricks.

It introduced anxiety, anger, and overwhelm into what was otherwise an immensely joy-filled time in my life. I had support from family and a few close friends to confide in, but I still felt lonely.

And in that loneliness, I was trying to process my emotions and to understand what was happening inside my body and my brain. All while navigating physical recovery, newborn feeding, sleep deprivation, and changing relationship dynamics.

(Check out the dark circles beneath my eyes in the picture here.)

The more I talked to moms in my life, the more I realized we all go through a lot of the same things postpartum, but we do it alone.

Or, we do it with Google and Reddit-thread deep-dives, which aren’t always helpful.

I’m not on Facebook (I ditched social media years ago to protect my mental health), so I couldn’t access those local new-mom groups that exist. I had two friends who gave birth to their first babies the same year I did, but they both live in different states. Texting them was helpful, for sure, but I felt sensitive about reaching out too often.

Real text messages between me and my friends during those first few months postpartum.

I knew there had to be a better way to connect with new moms during those vulnerable postpartum months. A gentle, accessible space with resources readily available. A virtual environment designed to meet moms wherever they are.

So I created it.

If you’re a postpartum mom in your first year of motherhood, or if you’re pregnant and expecting your first baby in the coming weeks, this community is for you!

Nurture Your Mind

Your brain literally changes during pregnancy to prepare you for motherhood, and those changes can last at least two years postpartum.

Reductions in gray matter in your prefrontal cortex and temporal lobe make your brain more efficient and responsive to your baby’s needs. But they also affect your memory, focus, and emotional regulation.

Journaling is a simple way to nurture your mind postpartum, and you don’t have to be a writer to benefit from it! My blog is basically a buttoned-up version of my journal. Within our community, I’ll share prompts, resources, and guidance on how to get started.

Care for Your Body

In terms of energy, pregnancy is comparable to a triathlon (yikes!). Then, there’s labor and delivery. Regardless of your birth story, your body has been through a lot.

Recovery can feel like slogging through mud. But it’s important to remember there’s no such thing as bouncing back after pregnancy. A slow and intentional return to exercise (when cleared by your doctor) is one way you can care for your postpartum body.

Together, we’ll embark on a 21-Day Walking Challenge to gently get moving again! I’ll also introduce you to the fitness coach I worked with when I was pregnant, Meg Martineau, who specializes in supporting women throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

Make Mom Friends

Loneliness is a common experience among new moms, but it can be hard to talk about. How do you explain that, even surrounded by family and friends, you still don’t feel seen or understood?

Having mom friends who get what we’re going through helps us feel less alone. But finding mom friends can be a challenge, especially when you barely have the energy to leave the house, let alone socialize! This community brings mom friends to you.

The Encouragement You Need When You Need It

As a new mom, I know how hard it can be to carve out time for yourself. That’s why I designed this community to deliver the encouragement you need right to your phone.

Join a private group chat via Telegram to connect with other new moms who you can vent to, confide in, laugh with, and learn alongside. Get real in a community of kind, compassionate women. Never worry about over-sharing or burdening your bestie.
